Clip-in Hair Extensions

You may well be familiar with this type of hair extension. The clip in type is a great temporary method of extending your hair. They can be applied and removed with ease and are the quickest and safest method of obtaining longer, thicker, mor luscious hair without having to opt for a permanent solution. This type of hair extension is attached to a base with sewn in clips, requiring very little commitment compared to all other hair extension methods available to you. You are able to apply these by yourself at home, taking less than 10 minutes to apply. No glue, chemicals or any heat transfer process is required for clip in extensions.

Tape-in Hair Extensions

Tape-in hair extensions differ from the clip in type. This is more of a semi-permanent method of hair extension. After clip ins, this si the second quickest type of hair extension and are especially simple to apply. Tape-in hair extensions cannot be applied at home, and you will need a professional to assist you with adding these to your hair. Applied to a large amount of your hair, the benefit of these is that no tension is caused on your scalp. Many celebrities use tape-in extensions due to their quick and easy application method, often used to give shorter bob style haircuts a fuller appearance.

These take around an hour to apply, with roughly the same time taken to remove them. They are removed through the use of a solvent spray, melting the adhesive chemical attaching the extensions to your natural hair.

It is advisable to have these removed every 7 weeks on average to allow for your natural hair to recover.

Sew-In Hair Extension Method

You may well know this method of hair extension by the term of “weaves”. This is applied using the LA Weave or Micro Ring type of metho. Not too dissimilar to the clip in method, sewn-in hair extensions are sewn using a needle and thread, or a micro-ring. Sew-in hair extensions are best suited for those with much thicker hair as they can cause some degree of tension. If your hair is especially thick or textured, this may well be the method for you.

Usually this takes between 1 – 2 hours, making the overall procedure somewhat longer. This will also depend on the number of rows of weaves you require, with most heads usually requiring 3 rows. Removing weaves or sew-in hair extensions is a quicker process, often taking 30 minutes or less to remove. If you feel any pain following sew-in extensions, this is simply from the tension and will subside within a day.
