My New Year’s Resolutions Progress After 4 Months

We all try our best to keep our New Year’s resolutions, but it’s no easy task, especially because such dramatic changes require a lot of focus, energy, and commitment. I, for one, am usually guilty of shirking my responsibilities and ending the year having done little to improve myself.

I’m happy to report that this year has been a bit better, and I’ve kept true to more of my resolutions than ever. Here is a rundown of how things have gone so far!

Maintaining My Meal Prep Schedule

I’ve made it a mission of mine to eat at home more often, which means that I’ve had to plan meals. As time-consuming as this was at first, I’ve grown to love the process, and have kept true to my goals by using a meal service kit. The best part about this kit is that everything is delivered to my doorstep ready to prepare, so I don’t have to go to the store and overspend!

Preparing your meals day by day is an interesting and rewarding experience, and it’s so easy to have them ready at a moment’s notice. I will admit that I deviate from the prep plan on special occasions, but I don’t consider this cheating. Everyone has to live once in a while!

Waking Up Early, Every Weekday

I’ve always had trouble waking up early. It’s hard to force myself to get up when my body doesn’t want to, and I end up hitting the snooze button more than once! I’ve always envied how certain people can wake up on time every day and spring out of bed with vigor and purpose. They seem to be so much more productive!

I’ve decided to wake up considerably earlier than I usually do, and have set a firm alarm for 7:00 a.m. As much as I love my sleep, it’s important to me to go to bed feeling as though I’ve done all I can. So far, on some days, I’ve successfully gotten up, though on others, I’ve hit snooze a couple of times. Of course, this is all still a work in progress, but things are looking up!

Taking My Appearance More Seriously

Last year, I started to look older than I actually am, but it wasn’t until this year that I decided to do something about it. I’ve done a lot of research about skin health and have bought a lot of creams and other products to smooth out some of my deeper wrinkles and lines.

To complement my revitalized skin, I’ve also decided to enhance my wardrobe with new brands. My goal has been to try on a new outfit every day, and so far, I’ve stuck to it. I have no intention of breaking this resolution, especially because online shopping is so cheap and easy nowadays.

Lastly, I planned a facelift a few months ago and got it done. The results are just incredible! I get compliments every day from friends, family, and colleagues who admire the transformation, and I haven’t felt better about myself in years.

Keeping a Consistent Journal of My Thoughts

I’ve never had a journal before, so this is new for me! It has been tougher to keep up with it than I initially imagined—I’m not the best at writing down what I’m thinking. I admit that I don’t journal every day, because I don’t always have the time, but I still set aside a few hours every week to sit with myself and process my thoughts. Sometimes, I wait for life to dish out inspiration before I journal, and the results are usually great.

It’s honestly a bit therapeutic to write about whatever happens in my life. My journal is like an inexpensive therapist!

Video Chat with My Friends More Often

Thanks to COVID, I haven’t been able to get together with friends. As often as we keep in touch through texts and calls, it doesn’t feel the same.

So, I proposed that we hop on weekly video calls to talk about our lives. We may not be with each other in person, but at least we still see each other’s faces! I hope that we will continue to do this until we can safely hang out at the bar again.
